Power Generation

The electric power industry is closely related to industrial development. The industry covers 3 distinct phases including electric power generation, transmission, distribution, and the sale of electric power. Electric power generation includes Hydroelectric power generation, fossil fuel electric power generation, nuclear electric power generation, solar electric power generation, wind electric power generation, geothermal electric power generation, biomass electric power generation, electric bulk power transmission and control, and electric power distribution.

Harris Thermal has fabricated custom equipment for all of the applications above and offers the technical expertise and experience to provide our customers with equipment that will serve them efficiently for many years.

Renewable Fuels & Waste to Energy (WTE)

Harris Thermal offers significant expertise and experience in fabricating equipment that is used in the waste to energy process.

Biomass is the leading renewable energy source, and the most important fuel in use apart from oil, coal, and natural gas. Biomass can be used as feedstock to produce electricity, either in dedicated or electricity only biomass plants, or in co-fired facilities using biomass in conjunction with coal. With areas available for use as landfills for municipal waste becoming difficult to find, the focus is shifting towards thermal waste recovery. Combustion, gasification, pyrolysis, and anaerobic digestion are some of the technologies used to convert biomass into various energy forms such as fuel, gas, or electricity. Growth in the market is being propelled by the increased uptake of waste-to-energy technologies along with policy changes and population growth. The waste material discarded on a global scale possesses the potential to address about 10% of worldwide electricity demand each year. Additionally, waste-to-energy market, incorporating digestion and thermal methods of generating power, lessens the hazard associated with pollutants released from landfills such as parasites, volatile organic compounds, carbon dioxide, and methane gas.

Water Treatment

The advancement of water treatment technology has created an ever-growing opportunity for firms working in this field. Harris Thermal has been at the forefront of this effort, providing equipment to the primary engineering firms that dominate this immense and growing field.

Mining & minerals

The United States’ mining industry has a long history, and it continues to be an important and active industry to this day. The products produced through mining provide the foundation for all manufacturing, giving factories the raw materials needed to produce their goods.

  • Slurry Chillers
  • Condensers
  • Autoclaves
  • Basket Strainers

Harris Thermal offers significant expertise and experience in fabricating equipment that is used in various applications within the mining industry.

Harris Thermal has worked with many of the leaders within the chemical industry throughout the United State and worldwide. The Chemical and Petroleum Industries are complex and require industry specific codes such as ASME, TEMA, API 620, 650 and 660.

The Chemical Industry accounts for a substantial portion of products that are used in our daily lives. The Chemical Industry can be broken down into three major groups: 1. Basic Chemicals (Polymers, Petrochemicals, Basic Inorganics) 2. Specialty Chemicals. 3. Consumer Chemicals. Our experience includes the following products in all of the ferrous, non-ferrous and reactive metals. Some common equipment used within the Chemical Industry that Harris Thermal can provide include:

  • Tanks
  • Chillers
  • Towers
  • Condensers
  • Evaporators
  • Crystallizers
  • Shell & Tube Heat Exchangers
  • Pressure Vessels
  • Tubular Reactors
  • Fixed Bed Reactors
  • Fluid Bed Reactors

Formaldehyde Converters / Resins

Due to its low cost and high purity, formaldehyde has become one of the most important industrial and research chemicals in the world.  We work with the leaders in this industry who have trusted Harris Thermal to build high quality equipment that they rely on to support the ever growing demands on their production capacities for formaldehyde.

Our long-standing reputation of excellent service and superior products has made us the leader in this field. We offer custom engineering and manufacturing equipment for a wide range of services.

The process begins with the pre-treatment of a feedstock of natural gas entering the system to remove impurities such as H2S, CO2, H2O, mercury, and higher-chained hydrocarbons.

Feedstock gas then enters the liquefaction unit where it is cooled to between -145 °C and -163 °C Although the type or number of heating cycles and/or refrigerants used may vary based on the technology, the basic process involves circulating the gas through aluminum tube coils and exposure to a compressed refrigerant. As the refrigerant is vaporized, the heat transfer causes the gas in the coils to cool. The LNG is then stored in a specialized double wall insulated tank at atmospheric pressure ready to be transported to its final destination.

Harris Thermal offers significant expertise and experience in fabricating equipment that is used in the processing of LNG.

General manufacturing & industry

Harris Thermal also offers services and equipment for many other manufacturing and industrial processes in addition to the ones mentioned above.  Please do not hesitate to reach out to Harris Thermal for your current or upcoming project.
